What should I do if there is damage on my vehicle when I pick it up?

Generally, car transport is hassle-free and worry free. However, this business is run by humans, and humanity is prone to making mistakes. Sometimes accidents happen where your vehicle has some damage to it. If you suspect this happened in transport, here's what you should do:

  • Make a note of all damage to the vehicle. All you do is go over the inspection sheet you and the driver made when the car was picked up and note any changes to that.
  • Get the truck driver's license number and signature.
  • Contact the car transport company. They should then work with you and the truck driver to sort the whole ordeal out.
  • If the car transport company does not work with you, you can file a complaint at the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and/or contact the United States Department of Transportation (www.dot.gov).

Will my vehicle be driven?

Typically, your vehicle will only be driven on and off of the truck, or at most from its point in the terminal to the truck, and then from the truck to its point in the terminal. you can double-check this by noting the odometer readout on the initial inspection you do at time of pickup, then checking it again during the drop-off inspection. Also make sure that the driver signs off on all inspection reports. Other than that, though, your car will not be driven. It will stay on the truck until it gets to where you want it to get.

How do I pay for car transport?

Many car transport companies require a deposit before they will pickup your vehicle. This fee generally runs between 10-25% of the cost of actually moving your vehicle. Most car transport companies accept all major credit cards, and the full balance of the car transport service is generally due when the vehicle is delivered. However, some companies do business a little differently, so it is best to double-check with whichever car transport company you decide to go with.
