Agriculture is still a major part of the city’s economy, though it is now overshadowed by service-based industries.

During the summer months, average daily highs in the city reach into the low 80’s during the day, while typical overnight lows drop down into the high 60’s. During the winter months, however, snow is common, with highs reaching only into the low 40’s and overnight lows often dropping down well below freezing.
