After the railroad came to the town in 1872 the city grew rapidly, and today it is considered a suburb of Dallas.

During the winter months, however, average temperatures drop, with daily highs only reaching into the low-to-mid 50’s during the day, with overnight lows often dropping down into the low 30’s.
