Atlanta Auto Shipping
Atlanta is a city located in the U.S. state of Georgia; it is also the capital of the entire state. According to the official US Census, which was last conducted in 2000, the population of Atlanta was over 519,000, making it the largest city in the entire state and the 33rd largest city in the United States. The city is also the core of the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes 28 counties with 5.3 million residents; it is also the 8th largest metropolitan area in the United States.
Atlanta began its existence as a small trading post in 1822, though farmers quickly became privy to the amazing soil in the area. Agriculture quickly became the major economic trade in the area – cotton, primarily, which in turn caused the slave trade in the city to boom as well. During the American Civil War Atlanta served as one of the primary railroad hubs in the Confederacy – it was a prize to be won by the Union army, though it wouldn’t be until 1864 that the city would be captured. The city was razed almost to the ground, though it would not take long before it was back to its former glory.
During the summer months the average daily highs in the city top out in the upper 80’s, while overnight lows can drop down into the upper 60’s; during the winter months, however, temperatures drop severely, with highs hovering in the lower 50’s and lows often dropping into the upper 30’s overnight.
