Ford Super Duty – F-250 Auto Transport
The Ford F-250 is part of Ford’s long-running F-Series line of trucks, which until 1998 included the F-150, F-350, F-350 and F-450 variants. In 1998 Ford moved the F-150 and all its different models to its individual lineup, grouping the F-250, F-350 and F-450 variants into what is now known as the Super Duty series. The Ford F-250 comes in four variants: the XL, XLT, Lariat and King Ranch. All four F-250 models feature the same engine options: either a 6.2L V8 gasoline engine, or a 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbodiesel, as well as the same two bed options: a 6 3/4ft bed or an 8ft bed. The XL and XLT both come with either a regular cab, crew cab or SuperCab, depending on which model you choose, while the Lariat only features a craw cab or a SuperCab, and the King Ranch only features a crew cab. Ford F-250 auto transport is easy.
Other differences are present as well; for instance, only the Lariat comes with adjustable pedals standard (the other three models don’t even have the option for them), and dual-zone air conditioning is available on the more expensive Lariat and King Ranch models and unavailable on the less expensive two. The trucks of the F-250 line are priced according to what they can do, their size, and what they come available with. The F-250 XL comes in at $29,455 MSRP, which is pretty good for such a large truck. The XLT is priced at $33,130, the Lariat at $40,265 and the King Ranch at $47,575. If you’re looking at buying an F-250 out of state, however, and hiring and auto shipping company to get it to you, here are a few things you may want to be aware of before doing such a thing:
First off, it’s important to know which specific model you’re shipping before you actually hire an auto transport company to move it. All four models are oversize and overweight, which means it’s going to be more difficult for you to secure cheap auto transport services for them. Auto shipping companies base their prices on the overall size and weight of a vehicle, and the F-250 models are always bigger than other vehicles, meaning they take up more room and more space. Auto transporters are required by law to stay under a minimum weight threshold, and get docked huge fines if they go over. Not only that, but auto transport carriers get paid by the load, not by how much weight’s on their truck, so the more cars they can haul the better. Any F-250 model easily takes up at least two spaces on a vehicle transport truck, and sometimes three if the truck is massive. Therefore, auto transporters need to make up that extra weight by charging more to ship the vehicle – they’re businesses too, and they need to meet their bottom line.
To facilitate your auto shipping and make it as pain-free and simple as possible, make sure you have as much information about your vehicle as you can get. A good place to start is here. The most important things you’ll need are the approximate weight of the vehicle and the overall size, including length, width and height. Some trucks will be longer or heavier than others, depending on the options they have in them and the build of it, so be sure to let your auto transport representative know what exactly you need shipped to avoid confusion or complication.
